Canadian Cancer Society's
"Relay for Life"

On Friday June 1st, 2001, the Canadian Cancer Society will hold it's third annual "Relay for Life". For one evening, Lansdowne Park in central Ottawa will be transformed into the "Relay for Life" Village, complete with street signs, shops, health & fitness services, restaurants and live entertainment. Most importantly that wonderful community spirit created by family and friends raised over $261,000 for Cancer research.

Hundreds of cancer survivors set the tone for the Relay as they join the Survivors Victory Lap, followed by the parade of teams participating in the relay. As team members walk or run the track throughout the night, live music fills the air, magicians wander the streets, fortunes are told and sore muscles massaged.

At sunset thousands of Luminary candles surrounding the track will be lit in memory of those who have lost their battle with cancer and in honor of those who have survived.

Join us under the open starry sky, all night, all for a good cause. We are going to celebrate life and support cancer research by joining victims and survivors of cancer by running, walking and jogging to raise money for cancer research.
